UK police forces have a new toy.
It is facial recognition software and technology which they are claiming has only just been created, however it has existed for many years.
There is another similar piece of software named "Silent Talker" - which uses similar methods to act as lie detector which in time will most likely replace polygraphs which are far more crude and less effective - as well as the fact that micro gestures on faces cannot really be hidden unlike polygraphs' being faked.
This new facial recognition software is being trialled. Days ago a news piece video was aired in which a reporter shadowed police using it and within seconds a face of a convict was picked up and they pulled said person to one side. They checked their criminal record, asked a few questions, learned that they were simply out shopping and not in breach of any bail conditions then let them go.
During this piece the tech was analysing every single persons face on a busy London high street. We can safely assume that those not logged should be disposed of but are most likely being stored in an illegal database.
